CEMS for Non-Metallic Industries
Continuous emission monitoring system (CEMS) for non-metallic industries such as glass, ceramics, quicklime and cement, using extractive and in-situ gas analysers and a particulate in-situ analyser to measure SO2, NO2 and total PM.
Overview
About the CEMS for Non-Metallic Industries.
This continuous emission monitoring system (CEMS) for non-metallic industries measures sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and total particulate matter (PM) at the stack of glass, ceramic, quicklime and cement plants. Each system is configured from extractive gas analysers, in-situ gas analysers and a particulate in-situ analyser, depending on the source and the pollutants to be reported. Data acquisition (DAS) and data interface (DIS) systems complete the installation, so the plant can report continuous emissions in line with DOE requirements and the limit values for its source category.
Features
- Measures SO2, NO2 and total PM in one monitoring system
- Choice of extractive or in-situ gas analysers, plus a particulate in-situ analyser
- Data acquisition system (DAS) and data interface system (DIS)
- Covers glass furnaces (≥ 1 ton/day), rotary furnaces (≥ 1 ton/day), ceramic furnaces (> 10 ton/day) and cement kilns of all sizes
How it works
- SO2: NDIR, NDUV, GFC, FTIR, PAS or fluorescence (extractive); DOAS, GFC or FTIR (in-situ)
- NO2: NDUV, PAS or fluorescence (extractive); DOAS (in-situ)
- Total PM: light scatter, beta absorption or triboelectric measurement
Emission limit values
- Glass furnaces, including glass fibre, melting capacity ≥ 1 ton of product per day: SO2 800 mg/m³, NO2 800 mg/m³, total PM 50 mg/m³
- Ceramic furnaces with production capacity ≥ 10 tons of product per day: total PM 50 mg/m³ where the dust load emitted is ≥ 2.0 kg/hour
- Rotary furnaces for hard quicklime or sintering dolomite: NO2 1500 mg/m³, total PM 50 mg/m³
- Cement kiln (all sizes): NO2 800 mg/m³, total PM 50 mg/m³
DOE requirements
- Supplier listed as an appointed and approved company on the DOE website
- TUV / MCERT certificate
- Data acquisition system (DAS) and data interface system (DIS)
Applications
- Glass and glass fibre manufacturing
- Ceramic products: roofing tiles, bricks, refractory bricks, ceramic glass, stoneware and porcelain
- Hard quicklime and sintered dolomite production
- Cement production
