Flow Meter

Types

• Open Channel Flow Meter: ultrasonic level-to-flow measurement over flumes, weirs and V-notches, such as the WF9000.V5 open channel flow meter.
• Turbine Flow Meter: Woltman-type water meters for hot or cold water in large pipelines.
• Variable Flow Meter: metal tube variable area meters with a float and local indicator.
• Other flow meters: further principles for specific media, including the electromagnetic flow meter for conductive liquids from DN3 to DN3000, the Coriolis mass flow meter for mass flow and density, the BT-VFM vortex flow meter for liquids, gases and steam, the BT-OG oval gear flow meter for oils and chemicals, and the LWM wall mount ultrasonic flow meter with clamp-on, insertion or in-line transducers.

How to choose

• Define the medium: conductive liquid, clean water, oil, gas, steam or dirty liquid with solids.
• Match pipe size and flow range, or the primary device for an open channel.
• Decide between inline, clamp-on and portable measurement.
• Check hazardous area ratings and the output your control system needs, such as 4–20 mA, HART or Modbus.
