Liquid Level Indicator

The liquid level indicator is a mechanical, float-operated gauge that shows the liquid level of a tank on a ruler-type board mounted on the tank side. A float rides on the liquid surface, held steady by guide wires anchored to the tank base and tensioned at the roof by spring anchors. A cable from the float runs out through a pipe on the tank top and over cast aluminium sheave elbows with pulley wheels to the indicator on the gauge board, so the indicator position gives the tank level directly. The board is marked in metres or feet, with volumetric graduations as an option.

How it works
