Overview

About the Stage/Staff Gauge.

A stage or staff gauge, also called a ruler level indicator, is standard equipment for measuring surface water level. It is a graduated scale fixed in the water so that the level can be read directly by eye, making it a time-proven visual reference that needs no power or electronics. Stage gauges are installed in rivers, channels, reservoirs and dams, and are also used in wastewater treatment plants, flumes and weirs for visual flow measurement, and in tanks. The gauge is available in many standard sizes, and the scale, size, colour and material can be customised to suit the site.
