Overview

About the WAFE2001 Iron Water Analyzer.

The WAFE2001 iron water analyzer is an online instrument for continuous monitoring of iron in water samples. It uses the o-phenanthroline spectrophotometric method: all Fe3+ ions in the sample are first reduced to Fe2+ with hydroxylamine hydrochloride, and the Fe2+ ions then react with o-phenanthroline to form a stable orange-red complex. A UV-VIS spectrophotometer measures the colour, whose intensity is proportional to the iron concentration. Automatic chromaticity and turbidity compensation corrects for real water samples, making the analyzer suitable for wastewater from mineral processing, steel, machining and electroplating plants.

Features

  • O-phenanthroline spectrophotometry, measuring range 0 … 2/5 mg/L (customisable)
  • Photoelectric measurement with accurate sampling and low sample injection error
  • Automatic chromaticity and turbidity compensation algorithm
  • Hybrid technology or bubble agitation for thorough mixing of sample and reagents
  • Specially designed flow path to prevent blocking
  • Imported core components, with all wetted parts tested for long service life
  • Reagent-leak alarm with maintenance reminders
  • Self-diagnosis, with faults alarmed and shown on screen
  • One reagent set covers 250 measurements (customisable)

How it works

  • Fe3+ in the sample is reduced to Fe2+ by hydroxylamine hydrochloride
  • Fe2+ reacts with o-phenanthroline to form an orange-red complex
  • The UV-VIS spectrophotometer measures the colour intensity, which is proportional to the iron concentration

Applications

  • Mineral processing wastewater
  • Iron and steel smelting and processing
  • Mechanical processing
  • Electroplating industry
