About this range
Open Channel Flow Meter
Open channel flow meters measure the flow of water in partially filled channels, flumes and weirs, where there is no full pipe to fit an in-line meter. A non-contact ultrasonic sensor reads the head height above a primary device such as a V-notch or Parshall flume, and the controller converts that level into flow and totalised volume. Sewage treatment plants, effluent discharge points and water operators use them for process control and reporting. LKS supplies open channel flow metering in Malaysia, along with closed-pipe ultrasonic options.

- Open Channel Flow Meter WF9000.V5: an ultrasonic level-to-flow meter programmable for V-notch, Parshall flume, weir, venturi and other primary devices, with ±1% of full scale accuracy, SPAN and SIRIM certification, a 3.5-inch colour display of flow, total flow and head height, a built-in logger with USB download and an optional solar-powered model for remote sites.
- LWM Wall Mount Ultrasonic Flow Meter: a transit-time meter for full pipes from DN15 to DN6000, with clamp-on, insertion or in-line transducers, an IP67 converter and IP68 transducers that can work under water to 2 m depth.

How to choose
- Identify the primary device in the channel: V-notch, Parshall flume, weir or venturi.
- Check whether flow data must be logged and downloaded on site.
- Consider solar power where the channel is far from a supply.
- For full pipes rather than open channels, a transit-time ultrasonic meter is the better fit.
