Ultrasonic Transmitter UT1000-3 (2 Wire)

The UT1000-3 is a two-wire ultrasonic level transmitter for non-contact measurement of liquid level in tanks, pools and open channels. Based on the principle that sound can measure distance, the probe sends an ultrasonic pulse that is reflected by the surface of the medium. The probe receives the reflected wave, the circuit calculates the time difference and converts it into the distance between the probe and the medium; subtracting this from the installation height gives the current level. It measures up to 15 m with 0.3% accuracy and outputs 4–20 mA and RS485 Modbus.

How it works

• The probe emits an ultrasonic pulse towards the liquid surface
• The reflected wave is received and the time difference gives the measuring distance L
• Level H = installation height TH − measuring distance L
• A dead zone of 0.25 … 0.6 m below the probe cannot be measured, so the highest level must stay below it

Installation

• Open environments: support installation, fixed by the flange on the instrument
• Pools or tanks: cut a hole slightly larger than the 60 mm probe diameter, insert the probe and tighten the flange
• Keep the probe face level with the measured surface, and allow for the beam angle so it does not hit tank walls or channel edges
