Overview

About the WSDO2001 High Temperature DO Sensor.

The WSDO2001 high temperature DO sensor is a dissolved oxygen sensor designed specifically for high-temperature use and able to withstand steam sterilisation up to 130 °C. It works on the polarographic principle: the electrodes are polarised by a constant voltage, oxygen in the water diffuses through the membrane and gives up its electrons, and this electrical change is detected and converted into a DO reading. A composite membrane of fluorine plastic, silicone and stainless steel wire mesh, with a platinum cathode, silver anode and potassium chloride electrolyte, keeps its shape at high temperature.

Features

  • Withstands steam sterilisation up to 130 °C; operating temperature 0 … 130 °C
  • Endures high temperature without deformation
  • Measuring ranges 0 … 100 µg/l and 0 … 20 mg/l
  • Breathable membrane head of fluorine plastic, silicone and stainless steel wire mesh composite
  • Platinum cathode, silver anode and potassium chloride electrolyte
  • 316L stainless steel electrode body
  • Response time about 60 s (95%)
  • PT1000 temperature compensation
  • Electrode diameters of 12, 19 or 25 mm and insertion lengths from 80 to 300 mm

How it works

  • A 0.7 V polarisation voltage is applied across the electrodes (polarisation time > 8 h)
  • Oxygen diffuses through the membrane and gives up its electrons
  • The resulting current is converted into a DO value

Applications

  • Small microbial culture reactors
  • Environmental monitoring
  • Wastewater treatment
  • Aquaculture
