DSMD1900 Digital DO Sensor

The DSMD1900 digital DO sensor is an optical dissolved oxygen sensor that measures oxygen by the luminescence principle, with automatic real-time temperature compensation. Unlike the amperometric method, where the silver anode wears and the electrolyte weakens over time, the optical sensor has no membrane to replace and does not consume oxygen, so it needs no minimum flow or agitation. It reports dissolved oxygen in mg/L, ppm or % saturation over RS485 Modbus RTU and is used in wastewater treatment plants, water plants, surface waters and aquaculture.

How it works

• A blue excitation light shines on a sensor film containing a luminescent dye
• The dye emits red light; oxygen in contact with the film absorbs part of the energy, so less red light is emitted
• A photodetector compares the emitted red light with a red reference light
• More oxygen in the sample means less red light, which gives the dissolved oxygen concentration
