Overview
About the Transparent Level Gauge.
The transparent level gauge is a direct-reading sight glass fitted with two transparent glass plates. Because the two media in the vessel transmit light differently, the liquid level is seen as the boundary between them when looking through the gauge. An illuminator can be mounted on one side to improve visibility under difficult operating conditions. The gauge measures both total and interface level in a vessel, and mica shields can be fitted over the glass for protection in steam service or with corrosive or high-temperature liquids.
