Level Gauge

Reflex Level Gauge

Reflex level gauge with a single prismatic borosilicate glass in a fabricated carbon steel body, rated PN16, PN25 or PN40, giving a clear dark/bright level reading on boilers, deaerators and process vessels without any power supply.

Overview

About the Reflex Level Gauge.

The reflex level gauge shows liquid level by light refraction, using the difference in refractive index between liquid and vapour. The gauge glass has prismatic right-angled grooves on the side facing the liquid: in the liquid-filled section the light is absorbed and the glass appears dark, while in the gas- or air-filled section the light is totally reflected and the glass appears bright. The result is an easy-to-read level line that needs no power supply or illuminator. Fully enclosed in a fabricated carbon steel body, the gauge suits boilers, deaerators, process and power plants.

Features

  • Single glass level gauge with prismatic reflex glass, standard type A, size 30 mm
  • Fully covered by a fabricated carbon steel body
  • Pressure ratings PN16, PN25 and PN40
  • Standard flanges DN20/PN40 or DN20/ANSI 300
  • Wide choice of models from 285 mm to 2590 mm minimum centre-to-centre distance

How it works

  • Liquid-filled area absorbs the light and appears dark
  • Gas- or air-filled area totally reflects the light and appears bright
  • The boundary between dark and bright marks the level

Benefits

  • Easy level reading
  • Low operating cost
  • Assured level indication without power supply
  • Daylight is enough; no illuminator needed
