Overview
About the Class I Surge Protection Device LP-50A.
The LP-50A is a Class I surge protection device fitted on the low-voltage side of a transformer with a rated working voltage of 230/400 V, or at the boundary between lightning protection zones LPZ0 and LPZ1. It protects the installation against overvoltage caused by lightning or surges. Built-in multi-gap construction gives a large current capacity and a low residual voltage in a fully enclosed housing with no arc escape. The device is not intended for systems whose expected short-circuit current exceeds its rated breaking follow current, and a backup fuse must be connected on its supply side.
Features
- Impulse discharge current Iimp 25 kA (10/350 µs) with a voltage protection level below 2.0 kV
- Large current capacity, low residual voltage, totally enclosed structure with no arc escape
- Built-in multi-gap design with a strong ability to extinguish follow current
- Protection modes L-N, L-PE and N-PE
- Combinations 2P, 3P, 4P and 3P+NPE for different power networks
- Flame-retardant reinforced nylon housing (UL 94V-0)
- 100 ns response time
Applications
- Low-voltage side of 230/400 V distribution transformers
- Main incoming supplies at the LPZ0 / LPZ1 zone boundary
- Class I lightning and surge protection of low-voltage power networks
