Biogas Leak Safety Control System

The biogas leak safety control system detects flammable gas leaks around digesters and biogas engine generators and analyses the composition of the biogas itself. Explosion-proof XDI-F1 gas detector heads fitted with collector cones are placed at likely leak points and wired to a GDS404 or COMBI gas controller, which raises the alarm. A BGA-1000F biogas analyser samples gas from the digester line and measures methane, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulphide and oxygen, sending 4–20 mA and alarm signals to the controller. The system carries Suruhanjaya Tenaga approval.

Components

• GDS-XDI gas sensor: explosion-proof detector for hazardous areas (flammable and toxic/oxygen, F1/F6). XDI junction box certified EExd IIC T6 II2GD (Sira 03ATEX10207U), IP66, aluminium alloy body with stainless steel 316 option
• F1 detector head: EExd IIC T6 II2GD, 3–4 m scanning distance, sensor inserts for infrared, electrochemical, pellistor catalytic, thermal conductivity and semiconductor sensing, stainless steel 316 body
• GDS-30J gas sensor: safe area version (flammable F1/F6, toxic/oxygen P1)
• GDS404 controller: 1–4 channel gas alarm for flammable, oxygen, refrigerant and toxic gases
• COMBI controller: addressable/direct gas monitoring system for 1–16 direct 4–20 mA sensors
• GDS 100: single point gas alarm for flammable, oxygen and toxic gases
• Sensor check gas kit: regulator (fixed flow 1 L/min), 3 m tube, test gas applicator cap, test gas bung and carry case (test gas not included)
• BGA-1000F biogas analyser: NDIR measurement of CH4 (0–100 % vol) and CO2 (0–50 % vol), electrochemical measurement of H2S (0–1 % vol) and O2 (0–25 % vol); 230 VAC, 50–60 Hz; 4–20 mA output (max. 750 Ω)

How it works

• F1 sensors with collector cones are installed at the digester tank and biogas engine generator
• The BGA-1000F draws sample gas through a throttling valve and returns it through an exhaust line
• Detector and analyser signals are connected to the GDS404 or COMBI gas controller
